A Different Kind of Edible
The experience patients have when they walk through the doors of PharmaCannis’ Hunt’s Point medical marijuana dispensary location is what truly sets them apart as a leader in the industry. Upon arrival, patient care representatives usher the client into an inviting consultation room similar to a doctor’s office and take them through an initial orientation, introducing them to the products available. Anna Poulin, director of outreach for PharmaCannis, said their patients always return because of the great experience they have. Because the legalization of medical marijuana is still fairly new to New York, she said patients often still feel intimidated by the prospect of going to a dispensary to fill their prescription. At PharmaCannis, the only dispensary in the Bronx, there’s no need to feel nervous. Every question is answered and every concern is discussed.
“It’s a whole different experience than what most people are expecting,” Poulin said. “It’s relaxing and welcoming and everyone from the person greeting at the door to the pharmacist to the patient care reps are friendly and make them feel comfortable. Our patients don’t leave until they are completely clear on what to expect from the medical cannabis they’ve been dispensed.”
Nelson Cuevas, pharmacist at the Hunt’s Point dispensary since it opened late last year, agreed, saying each and every patient is valued and taken care of. Not only do they review patient’s entire medical history but they talk in depth about each of the two components, THC and CBD, that make up cannabis and delve into the benefits. Each of the two products they offer, a tincture, which is best mixed into a beverage, and their vapor oil, both come in different ratios between the THC and CBD. In the near future, Cuevas said they’ll be offering cannabis in a capsule form as well to offer patients another method of consumption.
Aside from the in-office experience, PharmaCannis, which has four locations in New York and four in Illinois, also trying to up their customer service outside of the office and increase patient access by launching a medical cannabis delivery program for those who might be too ill to leave their homes or who have limited transportation. As the industry grows and more conditions are added to the list of eligible maladies, so too must dispensaries grow in order to serve the ever growing client population and insure that each qualifying patient is well-informed and has equal access to medical marijuana products.
“Now that chronic pain is one of the conditions that can receive medical cannabis, the doors are open to many more patients who can get certified and get relief. And we want to make sure they can get what they need when they need it,” Poulin said. “If they can’t get to us, we’ll deliver to them.”
Thanks to its recent partnership with Hello MD, PharmaCannis is also offering an online service called CannaCard where New York patients can get certified and recertified for medical marijuana online.
Similarly to their newly launched delivery service, the online platform will allow patients to go through the whole process from the comfort of their own home.
It’s really all about their patients and making sure PharmaCannis is catering to their needs, Poulin said. “Our company is patient driven so we want to do whatever we can to give them quality care.”
