Born and raised in the Bronx, Chrys Napolitano is a local food activist, writer and community organizer who has worked to raise awareness about the environment, sustainability, energy efficiency and the effects of climate change on waterfront communities.
She is part of the core group that began a successful CSA in Throggs Neck, helps the NYC Compost Project to promote Organics Recycling, is a member of the New York Rising Community Reconstruction Committee for the East Bronx Waterfront Community and the New York State Community Gardens Workgroup.
In her bi-monthly web series, “Living La Vida Locavore”, she discusses issues dearest to her heart: cooking with local, seasonal ingredients and navigating a complex food system on a year-round basis.
By “bringing everyone to the table” to talk about food and share meals that are delicious and nutritious, she believes that the ripple effect can be far reaching.
