Ceetay Serves up an Asian Fusion Adventure

Ceetay’s Asian fusion cuisine sparks a special kind of energy. It is one of those places where the food and service spark effortless conversation between patrons and staff. Customers not only go to Ceetay for the food but for the servers that they have built a relationship with or Shannon Boyle the manager. They even come in to chat with the staff or the owner, Amir Chayon if he’s around. “It’s not like every other restaurant,” says Boyle. “We love being able to bring people together. This is a real family environment.”

According to Boyle, “if you were to stop someone on the street they would definitely talk about the food.” At this particular restaurant, the menu items are so different that each section of the menu has its shining star. For example, the Spicy Tuna Bruschetta opens customers up to “a whole new world” says Boyle. Spicy tuna and guacamole on crispy rice brings in otherwise unrelated flavors and textures to one dish.

The restaurant understands that not all customers are ready for the flavor adventure. “Maybe people would be a little bit hesitant,” explains Boyle, in reference to their popular Chicken Tikka Masala. But she encourages patrons to try. “I’ll give [them] a little taste of the sauce, then they’re immediately in love.”

The kitchen staff isn’t afraid to go off menu either. “If they know we have an ingredient well make it for them,” says Boyle. “We are not just about being a business or making money, it’s about creating a memorable experience.”

“The sky is the limit,” emphasizes Boyle. “We have this menu that’s the backbone, then there are endless options after that.” The restaurant is already full most nights, the neighborhood is booming, and they even extend their delivery range beyond the Mott Haven border. It seems that growth is inevitable. “I would like to at some point get a bigger space,” says Boyle “Anything is possible at this place, we’re never disappointing people.”

Ceetay is looking forward to creating more memorable experiences at Rocking the Bridge on October 22. Small businesses in Mott Haven will participate in a community block party under the Third Avenue Bridge. “We’re excited to be involved,” says Boyle. “We are gonna have a table. We are going to do street food versions of restaurant dishes.” Like their famous chicken tikka masala, but on a stick.
