The Northwest Bronx and Asian food don't generally go hand in hand. Often, a delicious Asian meal is hard to find. Below is a collection of restaurants in Riverdale and Kingsbridge that are sure to satisfy your cravings for Thai, Japanese or Vietnamese cuisine.

Aoyu Sushi

3532 Johnson Ave, Bronx, NY 10463

Aoyu Sushi on Johnson Avenue in Riverdale serves up fresh Japanese cuisine. The menu features hand rolls, sushi, sashimi, soups, and noodles. I recommend the Chirashi, a bowl of sushi rice topped with a generous amount sashimi ranging from yellowtail to raw scallops. Some of their fish is flown in from the world famous Tsukiji Fish Market in Tokyo, Japan. Who knows, you may be eating the same tuna served at Sukiyabashi Jiro (one the best sushi restaurant in the world). The restaurant’s sleek interior complements its high-quality cuisine.

Com Tam Ninh Kieu

2641 Jerome Ave, Bronx, NY 10468

One block from the grand Kingsbridge Armory, Com Tam Ninh Kieu offers authentic Vietnamese food. The blue and white awning has remained the same since its opening in 2009, while a recent renovation has transformed the restaurant into a more fancy joint. The prices have increased since the renovation, but the food remains just as good. The menu ranges from outstanding appetizers to rice dishes to large bowls of Pho (a classic Vietnamese soup). I highly recommend the crispy shrimp cake appetizers and the intense Vietnamese iced coffee,  a blend of dark roasted coffee and sweetened condensed milk.

Siam Square Thai Cuisine

564 Kappock St, Bronx, NY 10463

Located on Riverdale’s Kappock street, Siam Square has been serving Thai cuisine for over 15 years. While expensive, the food never fails to fill your palate with incredible flavors. The menu offers curries, sautees, salads, noodle dishes and more. I recommend the drunken noodles; thin, clear noodles covered in a sweet and spicy aromatic sauce mixed with your choice of meat or vegetarian options. I also recommend the coconut creme mousse; a fluffy coconut dessert topped with assorted fruits.
